The Students

All of the students at La Escuelita are from the surrounding neighborhood. They come from homes that are poorly built, often without running water and electricity. Many of the parents have little or no schooling and some are not at all literate. The parents mostly sell on the street (water, tortillas, etc) or work sporadically in low-pay jobs. This is one of the poorest neighborhoods in Managua
