Many children in Nicaragua are not registered nationally. This means that they do not receive a national identity card, nor job opportunities, nor the right to vote or other rights as a citizen. Almost two thirds of the students in La Escuelita do not have birth certificates or other documents needed to register them. The Registration Project of the school helps these families to obtain the documents needed and to register their children.
